I've got a number of projects going on, at work, on the house, and in genealogy.  On the house, I'm working to insulate the attic space off my bedroom to make it more livable, and try to keep the cooling bill down this summer when the hot weather hits.  Genealogically, I've still been concentrating mostly on the Illinois line that lived in Morgan County.  As I entered the tombstone information onto the web site and separated out the families, I think that ultimately this will prove very helpful.  I just think I need to complete a little bit more information from the census to help complete the families through to the early 1900s.

I've come to the conclusion that I want to write an article (and present at the family reunion in October) about the many Decker men who served in the American Civil War and who were closely related.  I've identified about six individuals who were first to third cousins (with ties between the families), four of whom did not live beyond the end of the war.  Those must have been some tragic times.  And this would also include William Decker who married two women named Jennie, and adopted a daughter also named Jennie (coincidently - it appears - Jennie Freeman, the same name as his second wife).  But first, there would be much research to do in order to tie together the loose ends (who was Minard Decker, really?) and connect everyone, and be able to describe their life in a little more detail.  But I'm thinking...
