These are pictures from our trip to Mexico February 2005.

Sunday morning (February 27) we once again climbed into the Collectivos and this time headed to the Tulum archeological ruins.  At the entrance to the ruins were these performers twirling their way to the ground as the person on top played the flute.

Overall, it was a beautiful day.

As we wandered through the ruins, we did so without the benefit of a tour guide.  We may have missed out on some of the history, but it allowed us to see what we wanted, enjoy the scenery, and go back & enjoy the nice day by the pool.
I always have to point out that there's an iguana in this picture.
These pictures are of El Castillo, sitting on the edge of the plateau over the ocean.
Here we were standing next to El Castillo, enjoying the view of the beach (below) and the ocean.
The stairs down to the beach.
The beach view.  Off in the distance we could see a couple of whales.
I tried for a long time to get a picture of this with now people in it.  Came close.  The end result of this picture (facing north) was much better than the other three pictures of it while facing south.  The colors of the sky & ocean are much better in pictures facing north than those facing south.
The same building facing south.  This building sits high on the plateau on the edge of the ocean.  Some sort of lookout or lighthouse?  I looked for maps on the Internet that don't really describe what this building is.
I took this top picture right after we got inside the ruins, the next picture was taken just before we left.  I like the second one much better.
This picture was taken right outside the city walls, just outside the area of the ruins.

I think by this point everyone was tired of me taking pictures, and eager to get back to the hotel.  It was a warm morning - the shade felt nice.
One last picture, taken just before we left.  It was a beautiful day (as I said) until Sunday night.  While getting ready for dinner (Japanese tonight) it rained very hard for about an hour.  We managed to get to the covered walkways and followed them all the way to the lobby.  Dinner in the Japanese restaurant was excellent.  I even ate sushi (jut not fish eggs).
