After Jan had Barbara baptized in 1743, the family moved to Romney, Hampshire Co., Virgina., then to Washington Co.,Pennsylvania. Three additional children were listed the records of the KUYKENDALL store in Romney, Virgina. Jan leased 400 acres of land from Lord Fairfax in 1749, but moved in 1759 to Decker's Creek, now near Morgantown, WV.He, with his family, survived the Decker's Creek massacre. From there he moved to Vincennes, Knox Co., Indiana.

Before 1777, there were families of DECKERS, VANETTEN, INNES,WESTFALL, KUYKENDALL, DePUE, DeWITT, COX and others who had emigrated from the forks of the Delaware in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to the District of West Augusta, Yohogania County, Virginia.

They probably settled on part of the 40,000 acre "Vanmeter LandG rant" which John VANMETER had obtained from Governor GOOCH and sold in 1732 to Joist HITE. John Decker, Father of Luke, moved from Virgina prior to July 30, 1787 to the northwest of the Ohio River where the law protected his right to own a number slaves while resident of Vincennes. In his will he left these two slaves "Bob and Anthony" to his son Luke. The slaves deserted.

In the name of God Amen. I John Decker of the County of Knox in the Ter-
ritory north west of the River Ohio, farmer, being in perfect health, sound of
mind and memory, thanks to Almighty God for the same, and knowing that it is
appointed for all men to die, do make and.ordain this my last Will and
Testament, and I do order and direct, and it is my express desire that the
whole of my Estate be dispersed of in the following manner, that is to say, in
the first place I give my Soul into the hands of that god who gave it, my Body
to be interred in a Christianlike manner under the direction of my Executors
herein after named, and with respect to my worldly estate wherewith it has
pleased Almighty God to bless me, I dispose of it in the manner and form fol-
lowing, vis. First and foremost it is my desire that all my just debts be
faithfully discharged and that my funeral expences be duly paid. I then give

Administration of Richard Van Etten

KNOW all Men by these Presents,That we Rosina Van Etten Widow of RICHARD VAN ETTEN late of Plainfield Township of Northampton County deceased, John Van Etten of Forks Township in the said County and Simon Heller of Plainfield Township aforesaid Yeoman are held and firmly bound unto Benjamin Chew Register-General for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the Province of Pennsylvania, in the Sum of Six Hundred Pounds lawful Money of the said Province, to be paid to the said Benjamin Chew his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators and Assigns: To which payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves each of us, our and each of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, and every of them for and in the whole, jointly and severally firmly by these Presents, Sealed with our Seals, Dated the sixth Day of April in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and seventy.

THE Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above-bounded Rosina Van Etten Administratrix of all and singular the Goods, Chattels, Rights and Credits, which were of Richard Van Etten deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and Singular the Goods, Chattels, Rights and Credits, which were of the said deceased, within the said Province which have or shall come to the Knowledge, Hands or Possession of the said Rosina or into the Hands Possession of any other Person or persons for her and the same so _______ [too dark to read] do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Register General's Office, at Easton at or before the sixth day of May next ensuing.

And the same Goods, Chattels, Rights and Credits of the said deceased at the Time of his Death or which at any Time after shall come to the Hands or Possession of the said Rosina or into the Hands or possession of any other Person or Persons for her do well and truly Administer according to Law; And further to make or cause to be made a true and just Account of her said Administration at or before the sixth Day of April Anno Domini 1771.

And all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods, Chattels, Rights and Credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administratrix Account the same being first examined and allowed of by the Orphan's Court of the County of Northampton shall deliver and pay unto such Person or Persons respectively, as the said Court by its Decree and Sentence, shall limit and appoint. And if it shall hereafter appear that any Last Will or Testament was made by the said deceased, and the Executor or Executors thereof do exhibit the same into the said Office making Request to have it allowed and approved accordingly:

if the said Rosina being thereunto required, do render and deliver up the said Letters of Administration, Approbation of such Testament being first had and made in the said Register's Office, then this Obligation to be void otherwise to be and remain in full Force and Virtue. 540. Sarah Van Etten

Affidavits to Federal Pension Agency 1839 or later, Sarah VE Kittle stated she married Joseph Kittle at NJ residence of her stepfather Samuel Kittle, after Rev War began (1779-85). This records states Joseph Kittle (and twinbro Abraham) enlisted from Montague, Sussex, NY & initially served in German Regt of PA Line during Rev War. Joseph's Pension Record confirms his marriage to Sarah VE. Included is letter by pastor, Rev Cornelius G. Elting, of Deerpark DRC verifying bapt os dau Maria Kittle, their first child, on 24 Aug 1788.
Pension Record contains affidavit of Thomas VE of Montague, Sussex, NJ, age 71 in Jan 1839. He said he "was and is acquainted with Sarah VE" and was present at marr of Joseph and Sarah by Rev Samuel Westbrook, Esq. Also he dates marr to about 3 years after Joseph & Abraham originally enlisted in "the year 1775 or 1776".
Affidavit by twin brother, Abraham Kittle, 1839, to effect that while and Joseph were on leave from the army, Joseph married Sarah VE "by Sam'l" Westbrook Esq, and shortly after returned to their respective assignments.
Sarah was alive and receiving RW Pension in Montague in 1845.
Joseph and twin brother Abraham were sons of Jeremiah Kittle and Lea Davids (Davis). Other siblings: Salomon bp 1756; poss. Cornelius bp 1759; Petrus bp 1765; Catharine bp 1771; Elizabeth bp 1774.
